Digital Film Festivals in Korea

Spring 2006

Syllabus and Course Information

The number of art cinema houses in Korea is abysmally small. Instead various film festivals in Korea cover a wide spectrum of genres and fill in for the lack of art cinema houses, especially outside the metropolitan Seoul area. Also digital film festivals like SeNef take full advantage of Korea’s high-speed network infrastructure. In this course, we review the history and key characteristics of Pusan International Film Festival and digital films SeNef in no-competition category.

2: Fri, 9/8 4:00-5:30pm – Review this year’s PIFF program and Daejeon Art Cinema schedule.

3: Thu 9/22 5:00-6:00pm – 부산 영화제 준비. 10/14-15 보고싶은 영화 고르기 (9/23까지 주연에게). 알바 알아보기. 예매는 주연 책임.

4: Sat (10/13) or Sun (10/14) at PIFF

5: Fri, 10/27 4:00-5:30pm – Power of Web 2.0 YouTube vs mncast

6: Fri, 11/3 4:00-5:30pm – 서울독립영화제 2005 수상작 감상 (전산학과 4층 안영경 세미나실)

7: Thu, 11/23 12:30-1:30pm – “다짜미와 LEE” (전산학과 4층 안영경 세미나실)

8: Thu, 12/7 12:300m-2:00pm – “탈북소년들 중국에 가다” (전산학과 4층 안영경 세미나실)
